The children of Mama Tara are not available for adoption. It is Mama Tara's wish that the children remain in Honduras.
Set on the southeastern edge of the biggest coastal lagoon, Laguna de Caratasco, some 110 km east of Bruis Laguna, Puerto Lempira is the largest town in Mosquita and the home of 25 of the most beautiful orphan children. The children live with Mama Tara, a miskto woman of about 70 years old. In 2002, Tracy Houpt created a non-profit organization called Mama Tara Miskito Orphanage and this organization has been sponsoring the children and building an orphanage in which the children will grow up safe, strong, and knowing the Lord.
