BIO:

Cathy was born in Meza, Arizona, lived in Dallas for 2 years and now resides in Louisiana where Slidell has been her home for 40 years. She graduated from Northeast Louisiana University with a degree in Family Life and Child Development.

Cathy is married to Alan E. Guenard and has three children; Amie 18 yrs, Wilson 16yrs, and Katie 15yrs. Cathy and Alan have homeschooled their children since preschool and are now experiencing the bittersweet graduating of the oldest from highschool to college.

Having given financially to various missions, the Guenards never considered actually going on a mission trip until they heard Tracy Houpt’s presentation at their church. After much prayer, Cathy, Alan and Amie took their first trip to Puerto Lempira in 2003 which was lead by Tracy Houpt. Cathy and her family fell in love with the area and the children. Since that trip, she and one or all of her children have returned to the children of Mama Tara Orphanage 4 times to help with VBS, gather information on the new children at the orphanage, and to fix things that were broken. The Guenard family has the privilege of sponsoring Max Manuel. He is now 14 and they love him like a son and brother.

Cathy looks forward to the completion of the orphanage and the selection of house parents to nurture the children spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically.
