Buck-A-Day Sponsorship Program
This Program will help defray the monthly cost that is required to provide food, clothing, medical treatment, school supplies to the children, and the staff to help care for the orphans at Mama Tara Orphanage. For $1 a day ($30/month), you will help provide these basic life necessities to the orphans and you will also begin to build a personal relationship, via photos, letters and cards, with one or more of the orphans. The money that you donate each month will go into a financial pool for all of the orphans and will be spent on the items previously mentioned. Also, 5% of the donated amount will be held in a Scholarship Fund that will be awarded to the children when they are ready to move on to the next level of education, including vocational training, upon exiting the orphanage.
As of January of 2008, we have 19 children. All of them have at least one sponsor. Three of the children have sponsors who are paying double the amount required. Three others of the children have 2 sponsors each, leaving the remaining 13 children with one sponsor each. Because the amount of income coming in is not enough to cover the operating expences, we would like to see each one of the children have 2 sponsors.
If you can not sign up to be a sponsor, but would like to help ensure that the children are able to further their education, you can also make a gift directly to the Scholarship Fund.
